Windows 7 free ramdisk x64

It is also preferred for its security, as all info stored on it is cleared out as soon as computer is shut down or if there is a power loss. Some of the RAMDisk software that I have mentioned here let you create one without any limitation, while some are free versions of paid software and have limitations. Instead of limitations, you are given ample features to make use of these freeware. Define RAMDisk memory and various other parameters as per your requirement and start using any of these software.

Go through this carefully crafted list to know more about these software. It has a simple interface which minimizes in the Windows system tray.

You just have to select the size of the RAMDisk and begin the process. The free version supports a max disk size of 4 GB and 8GB for bit and bit Windows respectively.

The software interface rests in the system tray and can be accessed from there. To stop the process, click the Red button on the interface.

As soon as you stop the process, all data will be lost. Right click on the icon to access configuration window. Here you can set auto start parameters, access advanced settings, and choose to quit the application. The best upgrade you can do would be a RPM hard disk. MM10X , Sep 24, You wont see any improvements when putting the pagefile into ramdisk, its only usefull for compatibly reasons when you have enough ram without the need of a pagefile at all and put a 16MB pagefile into the ramdisk to not have it on your HDD or SDD.

But you can put your Temp and browser cache there. Good thing is, all the cached crap is gone after reboot. I use Superspeed Ramdisk Plus 9. Last edited: Sep 24, Is there a way to sync the files on the drive with the RAMDisk image i. If I do that, I'm guessing I'd need to pop into the registry and change the paths for the program folders, correct? It depends on the program, but StarCraft II can be run from anywhere, no registry changes necessary.

Dropping a game's data files in there is good. Dropping tiny little nothings in which aren't disk bound anyway is the definition of pointless. Hat Monster wrote: Why would 7-zip be disk-limited on loading its tiny little binaries?

You have it backwards. Loading large, sequential files are what hard drives and tape are for. Tiny files, however, cripple disks. Programs like Rainmeter and Secunia PSI are must-have's simply because of how aggressive they are in constantly writing to disks. What apps are you running that are slowing down? What tasks are you performing that are causing this lock up? That could help point to a potential app problem. Quote: You have it backwards. Not really. They're for cheap, mass storage.

Quote: Tiny files, however, cripple disks. No, it isn't. Tiny files do no such thing: A great number of them all being accessed together, then sure. But that is not the tiny files, it is the number of concurrent accesses. For example, loading the kB of uTorrent: HD takes 9ms to begin sending the file, sends it in 0 ms. SSD takes 1ms to begin sending the file, sends it in 1 ms. RAM takes 0ms to begin sending the file, sends it in 0 ms.

The slowest, the HD, takes 9 milliseconds to load uTorrent. Nine milliseconds. That's below the threshold of what you see as instantaneous. It's before your finger has lifted off the mouse button. Quote: I chose the applications on there based on how often I use them I load uTorrent perhaps once a week.
