Pc games gangstar 2
Yet these gripes are nothing compared to the game's most criminal problem - Al. Top of our list in the AI gross negligence department is the way your vehicles can't even change direction until they reach a junction. While this is irritating at the best of times, it becomes unbearable when you need to perform a drive-by assassination. If you don't kill your target straight away you have to drive to the nearest junction which can sometimes be miles away , turn around and then head back to where your target was last seen and hope they're still there - which obviously they never are.
The irony is amazing: here we have some of the world's most notorious gangsters who kill without remorse, run illegal gambling operations, bribe everyone they see including police and judges and yet they won't do a U-turn for fear of incurring the wrath of the local traffic cop.
On top of this, Gangsters 2 boasts some of the worst pathfinding you are ever likely to experience. For some reason your motley crew of half-arsed hooligans choose the most ridiculous routes across the city regardless of whether they're travelling by car or foot.
This kind of behaviour is understandable if they're trying to avoid rival gangs or the FBI, but these guys aren't that smart. It's perfectly normal for your 'most wanted' gang members to stroll straight past the cop shop and subsequently straight into jail.
The above examples are just a couple of the AI problems your characters are lumbered with. There are plenty of other failings that could be listed here including blind bouncers, Forrest Gump henchmen they just can't stop running away and getaway drivers who can't drive.
We could go on, but there's no point; the sad truth is the AI is so frustrating it reduces you to tears. Amid the mire of mistakes and poor programming there is one good point: once you've taken over a city you are given skill points to improve your gangsters' abilities.
This means it is worth protecting your best guys. You are also given the option to select which gangsters and business specialists you want to use on the next level. It's worth thinking carefully about too, because once you start a level you're generally stuck with those gangsters until the stage is complete, or until they die horribly in a wall of gunfire.
If the latter happens you can hire another mobster by checking out the job vacancy section in the local newspaper Yes, it goes from the sublime to the ridiculous. Hitmen, arsonists, explosive experts, pimps and more can all be found in the local rag. Oh, and if you're interested you can also check out the obituaries just to see who's snuffed it recently.
Sadly, meaningful or relevant news stories will not be found; despite being printed twice daily, headlines remain the same for days. And that's pretty much the size of it.
Art Deco fans might possibly relate to the excellent period poster art in the newspaper advertisements section as well as some great sounding oboe in the musical score.
And to be fair, a reasonable amount of effort has been put into creating an authentic atmosphere. Although it has to be said that a Scariace-inspired cocaine-fuelled paranoia would have gone down quite nicely too, as would a few pliers-or electrode-related cut-scenes. You have a lot to lose if your characters get killed, so it'll take a lot of planning to get them through in one piece. All this is wrapped up in a story in which your character, Joey Bane, returns from overseas to find his father on the wrong side of the mob with his brains on the wrong side of his face.
For Joey that's the perfect excuse to declare war on the mob element and take over the entire state using any method he can think of. Plot aside, what this means in practice is instead of randomly generated maps, the levels are purposefully designed to incorporate a set campaign - around 25 missions set over 15 different cities. What's more, the addition of day and night cycles should lead to more strategic manipulation of the environment. Certain tasks are going to be easier to accomplish under the cover of darkness, while your more respectable business fronts should operate at a premium during working hours.
An additional deadunatcli mode is based around a number of styles, with 12 specially constructed multiplayer maps to battle on. There won't be a map editor packaged with the game, and the developers are undecided as to whether to include one at a later date.
It probably all depends on how well the game sells. When we've had a chance to settle down with the finished game we'll find out if it's any cop or whether we'll have to break out die baseball bats. Let's hope it's more Goodfellas than Godfather 3 otherwise you can just fuggedaboudit. Browse games Game Portals. Sounds like a scene from a movie? Nope, it is just one of many actions you will have a chance to perform in Gangsters 2. Drive-by actions like these are one of the most typical methods to conquer a site.
Mission goals are usually along the lines of taking a certain number of sites or assassinating someone. The assassination targets are hard to find, and once you do find them, they are usually tough cookies to break. You should never forget that you are facing far more experienced and frequently better-equipped mobsters than yourself. The boys in blue are also omnipresent. Still, it will be enough to bribe the local sergeant and you won't need a single guard on that territory, as the police will protect you.
Another thing about the police that irritated me initially was the fact that a cop appears whenever a fight breaks up, and they practically always start shooting at your boys first.
On the other hand, if you tell your boys to retreat towards the police and the cops see them being chased by a gang with shotguns, they will immediately switch to your side. Cops will always tend to shoot at mobsters with high notoriety level or the ones wanted by FBI. Very well conceived and fun to play. Sound and graphic design - both of these are as good as they could get for a game like this. The soundtrack is dark and moody, and provides a great atmosphere.
The useful thing about sound is that you will hear noise typical for a site when scrolling over it, making sites easier to find. The game uses an isometric third-person view and only supports x resolution. Ingame map has several levels.
When you scroll through it, the higher levels will disappear so that you could see what is going on inside buildings and control your men. The visual engine supports day and night changes and weather effects. Gangsters 2 is a highly addictive game with good design and interesting gameplay. The unusual concept and the unraveling plot will keep you glued to the screen. The game is well balanced and keeps getting more complex as you progress deeper into the underground.
